"Compared to What" Les McCann & Eddie Harris
Historian Marcus Rediker returns to the show for his third visit. For our last interview, he brought us The Fearless Benjamin Lay―his biography of the man revered as “The Quaker Dwarf” who, in the early 1700s, became the first revolutionary abolitionist.
Now, he’s back with an adaptation of Lay’s life and times illustrated by graphic novelist, David Lester, and co-authored by historian Paul Buhle. And, why is Lay’s life relevant now—three centuries after his death? Join us for this conversation that brings “intersectionality” to a whole new level as we discuss human rights, animal rights, environmentalism, and the art and craft of history and the graphic non-fiction novel.
